WELCOME to Rachel Foss Illustration!

I was raised in the general area of Flint, MI, where I watched a lot of Nickelodeon and read every Goosebumps book released prior to 1996.

I went to school and studied Broadcasting and Film.  I graduated realizing that I didn’t really want to do either of those things.  I moved to Grand Rapids and did nothing for a really long time.  THEN in 2009, thanks to some amazing people, I discovered Comics/Graphic Novels/Cartooning.  For many reasons, including this, I consider Grand Rapids, MI my true home.  In 2011 I moved to White River Junction, VT (or more fondly TOON TOWN, VT) after I was accepted into the Center for Cartoon Studies Master’s Program where I sadly was not able to continue, but did intern the rest of the year.

I now live in Chicago with my two cat assistants, where I eat a lot of food and everything is awesome.

  1. (commenting here b/c I don’t see a contact form or email on either site)

I really enjoyed Haiku Revue; autobio’s not so rare but comics poetry is less common, and I think it works well here.

Haiku Revue reminded me of a couple of comics:
    * Haiku Circus (http://www.haikucircus.com/) – 3-panel absurdities. The only similarity is that it’s based on the haiku form.
    * Love Letters From Boston to Tokyo (http://treesandhills.storenvy.com/products/77837-love-letters-to-tokyo-from-boston-by-kristilyn-moving-sale) – charming, poem-like comics.

    Keep on keepin’ on!

    • Colin thanks so much! It was very nice meeting you, and thanks again for the comics! Ill have to check those out when I get home today – can’t wait!
