I still don’t have my stupid scanner because i had to send it back for a new one that actually WORKED…
So im afraid you get photos … AGAIN… >:/
A few years ago (two?) i went to a Dr. Sketchy event in Grand Rapids that was featuring the Grand Raggidy Roller Girls as the models, and last night i went to Dr. Sketchy here in White River that featured the Upper Valley Vixens as models
COMPARE AND CONTRAST
2009:
this one won me a prize of two free SHOTS
"ray charles" was the name given to me by Dr. Sketchy (get it ... cause my names Rachel?) mmyeah....
OK so… here’s last nights – 2012:
Upon review, i’ve concluded two things are true:
1. That I can’t draw live models
2. I think my drawing skills have DEcreased
In my defense last night’s were only five minutes each…
SECONDLY through the wonder of the tax refund and the generosity of caring friends, I was able to purchase a new external hard drive AND printer/scanner copier, ALL of which will help making comics easier and faster, and i can actually posts SCANS of things and not pictures… HOWEVER both of them showed up in NOT working order… and since i dropped my phone in a water bucket the other day i cant call for tech support – maybe ONE day things will work out and ill be able to post nice images of things!
AND THEN my cat DESTROYED my favorite drawing…

Alright bros, it’s 70 degrees outside. Im going Vermountaineering
This week i spontaneously jumped the train to Boston (or, really Cambridge and Watertown…), to get away and clear my head. I wanted to take more pictures but it was pretty dreadful weather the whole time – I still had fun!
Whew, its been an interesting two weeks. I think things are just chaotic enough for me to really feel like I’m home here in Vermont. Ive been lucky to find super cool people right away, and really lucked out with a great roommate so that I have been SO BUSY doing cool stuff i don’t even have time to update my silly blog!

Last week i was bed ridden for a few days with a fever and some other kind of illness. It took a while to recover but when i did i finished this:
I saw this while riding on the bus my last week in Grand Rapids.
Is it my best work? No.
But it is a glimpse of home that I can keep with me.
After I recovered from my fever dreams, i got to hang out with some pretty sweet cartoonists the rest of the weekend, including Jesse Lonergan, Jen Vaughn and some other sweet CCS students.
I love living in a town where people get together and draw on a regular basis.
(In case you couldn’t tell, the bottom one is mine ;)
And who could not LOVE donut picnics on the yards of Dartmouth? And no, I havent found a rich dartmouth student to fall in love with me yet… GIVE ME TIME. For now, these guys are enough :)
The past week had its ups and downs, but all in all good. It’s the people, here, that are making this place so great. Im inspired to work everyday because of the encouragement and the passion im seeing from anyone else.
It makes me want to work harder.
Be better.
Share my stories.
Make something beautiful.
This is the drawing im hopefull going to finish today – it’s of me and Sara in our favorite corner of our favorite coffee shop in Grand Rapids
