More art in 2020!

I really want this to manifest as my own Roarin’ Twenties, and the #1 way im doing it is DOING MY ART!

And I am honestly off to a great start, as I have honestly started and completed more art in this first week of 2020 than I have in all of 2019!

What I am working on this week is an illustration i started YEARS ago but am now determined to finish.

Untitledlogan square V2

This is an illustration of my second apartment in Chicago, in Logan Square.  I live here from 2014-2017, and i have very happy times here.   I loved this apartment so much, and I loved the people that came and went and life that happened inside.  I think of this apartment often, I think of becoming the person I am since moving here in 2012.

ALLLLLLRRRIIIIGHTY…

I basically took a month off to catch up on life and what not, SO, I am excited to announce two new projects coming up:

FIRST, a fun thing I have been doing all summer is sketching people I see around Chicago who look chic and are wearing interesting, creative fashion statements.  I just started a tumblr called Fashionable Chicago where I will be posting these drawings, and also allow people to submit their own drawings and pictures to the blog.  This project will be EXCLUSIVELY on Tumblr, so if you want to see updates, you will have to follow the blog!

NEXT – and most excitingly  (*^▽^*)

Today I officially begin work on a web comic that will be released to the public on OCTOBER 1, 2013

This comic will be based on my family history, each chapter will be about a different section of my family.  I am so excited about this project, partly because I am passionate about the story and work i am doing, and partly because I have already discovered some interesting facts and met wonderful people through research.

This first chapter will be about my mother’s-mother’s parents, who hail from an ole’ mining town in St. Austell, Cornwall, England.

st austell001 SInce I will be working hard and focusing on this particular project, you might not see many updates from me on here until the comic launches, so don’t be worried – Ill be back in a few months.

Love every one of you.

January Life Drawings – BREATHE OWL BREATHE

I feel almost caught up with my artistic endeavors… even though I am really really not at all.

But at least I am with some posting stuff – Here’s January’s life drawings, from a recent Breathe Owl Breathe concert.

My favorite one is of Andrea :)

If you are not familiar with breathe owl breathe, check them out – they are one of my favorite bands in the entire world.

Recent sketches

In attempt to catch up with all the things I HAVENT been doing the past month, here are some life sketches I’ve been doing!

I love doing life drawings; there are so many beautiful things in the world, even on the megabus :)

I saw this little girl at the Art Institute. She was posing like the art while her sister took pictures – BEST :)

November Life Drawings

From Salonathon, November 12, 2012 @ Beauty Bar, Chicago

DJ Swaguerilla

Calamity West

Mikey Laird

Michele, and Michele’s lovely lips (in an artistic non-creepy way)

Michael Knutson – complete with gimped finger

I dont remember his name, but he was an awkward comedian

some girl, playing the role of a very sexually satisfied “Belle”.  I drew this while standing up after two jamesons and a bell’s amber, so it’s not as good as it could be but decent under the circumstances!

it’s HARD to draw people you know!  especially if you want to turn them into a cartoon…

Side Project: MUSCLES

This past week during a slow morning at work, a coworker and I came up with a bunch of Muscle Jokes and decided to turn them into a comic book!

It’s just a fun side project but it should be done soon!

I have also been really inspired by the extremely talented Sam Hiti, who often posts sketches of people either from his head or public/life drawing setting.  I’d like to do more of these but I only have these two for october so far:

And last week Scott C. visited Chicago and did a talk at Qumby’s and  DePaul Univ.  so I drew this !
